Hydraulic cylinder piston rod coating treatment
Coating treatments on piston rods, like chromium or Nickel chromium, have a major influence on the lifetime of the hydraulic cylinders, based on the various constraints it is exposed to in its environment.
During co-development step of the cylinders, based on the conditions of use and stresses to be exposed to, our Engineering department will propose you the best cost-to-design solutions considering:
-best material (C35, 20MnV6, 38 MnV6, 42CrMo5, stainless steel, etc.),
-type of welding used (MIG/MAG or friction welding),
-treatment to be applied
-proper coating for piston rod.

The quality of the chrome plating is vital to ensure proper coefficient of friction for seals, scratch resistance and corrosion resistance.
In order to maintain constant quality of chromium coating, SAH Leduc has invested in its own salt spray testing unit.
SAH Leduc is likewise able to offer nitrocarburising treatments for inner barrels. Nitrocarburising refers to a thermo-chemical diffusion process in which nitrogen, carbon and oxygen atoms are diffused on the surface of the steel part to create a compound layer and a diffusion layer. At the end of the process the part shows increased resistance to wear and tear at the surface layer and improved resistance to fatigue linked to good anti-corrosion performance.
